Well, Friends and Family, I don't solicit donations online much, if at all, BUT I thought this cause definitely merits an exception, so read on. My better half, Song Xiong has long worked in the nonprofit sector in MIlwaukee. She works hard at it. And she is good at it. As most of you know, she is currently the Director of the Senior Program at Milwaukee Christian Center. Her senior support program serves all ethnicities, but specializes in Milwaukee's Southeast Asian populations. Her program provides a social outlet, her staff-nurse provides health checks, her kitchen provides gourmet hot mid-day meals five days a week and her employees provide outings and activities, ESL and education. It's her way of contributing to the community, the city and generally making the world around her a better place. And i cannot begin to tell you how that makes my heart swell (figuratively speaking, of course otherwise that would be called cardiomegaly and i should probably be seeing the heart doctor).

Programs like Song's, by nature, are not money making ventures; they are able to do what they do with grants and donations. And this weekend is Milwaukee Christian Center's 19th Annual Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser. Now, many of you happily put a few bills in a birthday card to Song (which she is always free to use as she sees fit, Mom and Dad). Or maybe you buy her a drink when you meet up... unless she stealthily beats you to the gesture. Or maybe, just maybe, against ALL odds you lose bets to her and have to hand over a 10 dollar bill on the regular. Today I'm asking you to put a few dollars less in her birthday card or maybe use a foreign currency that makes it look like a lot when it's only a buck and a half or so. Ooor, instead of buying her a Sazerac with fancy french brandy, maybe buy her a cheap tap beer. Or just run when you hear "I'll betcha 10 dollars..." Either which way, with your few extra dollars saved, you can then follow the link below to support HER efforts to make OUR world a better place.

And even if you don't send Song birthday money or see her much around town, dropping 5 dollars to a good cause is going to brighten your week a whole lot more than if you dropped that 5 dollars in, like, the parking lot or something.

So, with that said, here's the link. You don't even have to be anonymous for this one. In fact, go ahead and put you name right on your donation and then call Song and tell her she owes you BIG TIME. Trust me, it'll mean a lot.
